Day 1: The Ascent & The Kolukkumalai Horizon
Morning Theni Departure & Foothills Sightseeing Start early from Theni. Visit the Vaigai Dam (a local landmark) or the Kumbakkarai Falls (Kodaikanal foothills) before starting the main journey.
Travel Theni to Munnar Route The Scenic Drive via Bodimettu Drive via the picturesque NH49/Dharapuram Road route (Theni → Bodi → Bodimettu). Stop at the Gap Road Viewpoint as you gain altitude for stunning views.
Afternoon Kolukkumalai Access Kolukkumalai Tea Estate Check into your Munnar accommodation first, then immediately drive/hire a jeep to the Kolukkumalai Tea Estate. This is the highest organic tea estate in the world (technically in TN, but accessed from the Kerala side). Visit the factory and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views.
Evening Munnar Town Relaxation Return to Munnar town. Spend a relaxed evening exploring the local market or trying fresh tea.
Day 2: Eravikulam, Dams & Echo
Morning Rajamalai Eravikulam National Park (Rajamalai) Start early (pre-booking tickets is highly recommended) for the main attraction: Eravikulam National Park. Look for the endangered Nilgiri Tahr on the slopes of the tea gardens.
Lunch Munnar Town Traditional Kerala Lunch Have lunch at a local restaurant in Munnar.
Afternoon Mattupetty Area Mattupetty Dam, Kundala Lake & Echo Point Visit the popular cluster of attractions: Mattupetty Dam (boating options available), the surrounding tea plantations, Kundala Lake, and the famous Echo Point (known for its natural acoustic phenomenon).
Evening Munnar Town Kanan Devan Tea Museum Visit the Tata Tea Museum to learn about the history and processing of tea in the region.
Day 3: Viewpoints, Culture & Departure
Morning Viewpoints Top Station Drive to Top Station, located on the border, for the ultimate panoramic view of the Western Ghats and the clouds touching the mountains. This is an iconic spot for photography.
Late Morning Munnar Local Market & Shopping Visit the local Munnar market to buy authentic Kerala spices, homemade chocolates, and fresh tea/coffee.
Lunch Munnar/Bodimettu Final Meal Have your final meal in the hill station or on the way down.
Afternoon Descent & Theni Return Journey Drive down the ghat road and proceed back to Theni Railway Station/Bus Stand for your onward journey.
